About the Executive Director

Mara Manus

Mara Manus is the Executive Director of the New York State Council on the Arts. Ms. Manus has also served as executive director of the Public Theater in New York City as well as a program officer at the Ford Foundation. Previous roles include Director of Playwrights of New York, Executive Director of The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Founding Director of the Arthur Miller Foundation and Southampton Arts Center. Ms. Manus was also the founder of the management consulting firm, Manus + Co, where she oversaw the launch of cultural organizations and provided non-profits with leadership and organizational development support. Ms. Manus earned a B.A. from Stanford University.
