  Exhibition

Registration deadline: January 22, 2010
Application deadlines:

February 17, 2010: Film Festivals; General Exhibition

April 12, 2010: Screenings

Support is available for the public presentation of film, video, installation work, sound art, and new media offered in cinemas, community centers, galleries, libraries and museums or through a variety of communications technologies, including radio and the Internet. Funding is available to a variety of screenings, including festivals, series and year-round programming. The presentation of work by New York State artists is strongly encouraged. Programming including youth media is also welcome. Touring exhibitions that circulate to three or more sites throughout New York State are also encouraged.

Note: Applications in these categories go directly to panel and are not subject to staff review.

Interdisciplinary exhibition projects will be considered when they are predominantly moving image-based media and/or sound art work. Organizations may not apply to the Electronic Media and Film Program if applying to another NYSCA Program for the same project.

The Program recognizes film as a distinct medium. Film screenings on DVD or through the Internet are rarely supported.  Applicants are encouraged to speak with Program Staff in advance of the January 22 registration deadline regarding exceptions.

Eligibility

Applicants may apply in one of three Exhibition sub-categories: General Exhibition, Film Festivals or Screenings.

General Exhibition - Applicants to General Exhibition are eligible for support of sound work, moving image media, video and/or film installations in a gallery, museum, or outdoor venue.  Online exhibitions are also eligible.

Film Festivals - Applicants to Film Festivals must have completed three years of festival programming to a public audience.

Screenings - Applicants to Screenings are eligible for support of moving image media, film, or video programs and series in a theatrical setting for public audiences, including outdoor venues.

IMPORTANT: Applicants must identify the type of Exhibition they are applying to in the Project Title and Project Description area of their registration page.

For example:

Project Title: General Exhibition – Sound Art and Media Installation

Project Title: Screenings – Year Round Film Program

Project Title: Film Festivals – The Annual Creative Film Festival
