Technical
Assistance
The Museum Program provides Technical Assistance support to all eligible New York State museums and museum service organizations through the Upstate History Alliance, which manages Grants for Museum Advancement: Get Ready, Get Set, Go! Support is available for a range of services. Get Ready! Covers costs of a consultant experienced in museum planning to prepare an organization for the development of a strategic or long-range plan. Get Set! grants may be used to develop a strategic or long-range plan, or work with a consultant on project or program advisement or evaluation. Support is available up to $3000. Go! grants support museum staff, board and/or volunteers to travel to other museums within New York State or attend professional conferences or workshops, both in and out-of-state. Support is available up to $750. Any museum, whether or not it has been previously funded by the Program, may receive support through this program. Please note that requests to this program should not duplicate a request to the Museum Program. For further details, including guidelines and an application, please contact: Upstate History
Alliance Conservation Treatment Grants for conservation treatment are available through a program administered by the Lower Hudson Conference. The Conservation Treatment Grant Program offers support for treatment procedures to aid in stabilizing and preserving objects in museum collections. Support may be provided for treatment of paintings, works on paper (i.e. maps, prints, posters), textiles, furniture, sculpture, and ethnographic, historical, and decorative objects. The work must be performed under the direction of a professional conservator. Support is available up to $7500. Any non-profit museum or cultural organization is eligible to apply, provided the organization does not have in-house conservation staff with expertise in the area for which support is requested. Objects to be treated must be owned by the applicant institution. For further details, including guidelines and an application, please contact: Conservation
